Toxins

What do cavity fillings, the water we drink, and lipstick all have in common?

They are all sources of toxicity to the human body.

Toxins are leaking into our everyday lives, whether we like it or not.

Your body has to constantly be on the lookout to win the neverending battle with the heavy metals, mold, and environmental toxins floating around your everyday lives.

Could you be secretly suffering from long-term exposure to a harmful toxin (like mold growing in the walls of your house) and not even know it?

Sure, there can be obvious symptoms like vomiting, or an upset belly.

But some are so sneaky you can go misdiagnosed for MONTHS.

Don’t be fooled…

These materials can do some SERIOUS damage to the body if you don’t take action fast enough.

How the body detoxifies

When you hear the word “detox” your mind likely thinks of weight loss fads or crazy juice cleanses. But when our body is “detoxing” what does it really mean?

Our bodies exist purely because of hundreds of chemical processes constantly breaking things down for our bodies to use as fuel to move forward. Out of all of these chemical processes, about 80% of them are related to detoxification.

Your liver is doing the majority of the detox heavy lifting, as it is the gatekeeper for every single compound your body encounters. It takes the toxins in, transforms them into a compound that won’t harm the body, and prepares to be eliminated.

It’s in our mouths?!

Today, the largest toxic threat we face is exposure to heavy metals. There have been many reported instances of mercury poisoning from cavity fillings, and lead from drinking water. There are also many studies that link pregnant women’s exposure to certain heavy metals, and the development of health conditions in their newborn children.

Apart from certain dental fillings, you can find…

  • Mercury in fish that live in polluted areas (which reduces brain function and can make you feel “mad”).
  • Cadmium in cigarette smoke and shellfish (can lead to fertility problems in both men and women).
  • Aluminum in deodorants and food packaging (reduces brain function and memory)

There have also been many instances of heavy metal poisoning in patients who received a medical device (usually orthopedic metal joints). Because the symptoms of the poisoning affect the brain, many are unfortunately misdiagnosed with psychiatric conditions before the true root cause is discovered: their body was breaking down the foreign metal object and leeching the chemicals into the bloodstream.

How to promote detoxification

If you’re worried that you have been exposed to a toxic substance, it’s important to confirm with a medical professional who can perform the appropriate tests.

Even if you haven’t been exposed but still want to give your body a detox boost, there’s a few things you can do:

  • Consider supplementing with glutathione and sulfur (to help your liver with toxin elimination).
  • Eat cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage and brussel sprouts (as they contain many glucosinolates which also support the liver).
  • Eat organic as much as possible to avoid ingesting pesticides.
  • Use a water filter (ideally a reverse osmosis filtration system). Do not drink unfiltered tap water when at all possible.
