Are You Missing These Essential Thyroid Labs?
Your thyroid is the brain behind every cell in your body. It is the essential gland that keeps your cells in line. Keeping your thyroid hormones in equilibrium is essential to living a pain-free life, but age, diet, stress levels, medical history, and current medications are all examples of external factors that can affect your thyroid’s balancing act.
Is your thyroid out of balance?
When your thyroid is not producing enough hormones to meet your body’s needs, you are struggling with hypothyroidism. This medical condition can silently develop without your knowledge and can be easy to misdiagnose, as symptoms develop slowly over time. What starts out as something small like a bit of weight gain or dry skin can transform into more serious symptoms such as depression, muscle weakness, or even an irregular heartbeat.
Alternatively, your thyroid can also be working on overdrive (aka hyperthyroidism) and producing too much thyroxine, causing your metabolism to burn out of control. This condition often is overlooked for much too long, as it starts with innocent-seeming symptoms (like weight loss without trying or an increased appetite), and progresses to much more serious symptoms like heart palpitations, muscle tremors, and anxiety.
When your thyroid begins to tip too far in either direction, it’s time to get professional help fast before some serious damage to your body occurs.
Starting to feel crazy?
If you’ve been trying to rebalance your thyroid function with your doctor or endocrinologist and have been frustrated with the results, you are not alone. So many of the individuals that come through our clinic have had a “thyroid checkup” recently but were told that their thyroid was healthy or “normal.” What is really going on?
The reality is, the run-of-the-mill thyroid panels used by most medical doctors are only showing you a very small snippet of your true thyroid function and are missing many important details. These panels typically only include:
- Evaluating TSH levels
- Measuring free T3 and T4 levels.
While these tests are a good place to start, they don’t give us enough information to fully understand the root cause of what is going on to create an effective healing protocol. Evaluating your TSH levels is a great indicator of baseline hypo or hyperthyroid activity, but a simple levothyroxine or synthroid prescription will not heal the root cause of your dysfunction.

Taking it one step further
At our clinic, we don’t just want to send you away with medication to trick your body into believing things are working. We want to get to the root cause of what made your thyroid start to act up in the first place.
There are 10 additional markers that we evaluate during a complete thyroid checkup, that tell us exactly where to laser focus our healing efforts. These include:
- Free T4
- Total T3
- Free T3
- Free thyroxine index
- Reverse T3
- T3 Uptake
- Thyroglobulin antibody
Unfortunately, the majority of crowded doctors offices don’t have the capacity to run this thorough thyroid exam.
That’s where we come in.
We don’t want to simply prescribe you a hormonal medication that brushes your true issues under the rug. The longer you ignore your root thyroid issues, the more complicated (or even impossible) they will eventually become to treat.
We will use these comprehensive results to evaluate your lifestyle, diet, current stressors, body sensitivities, medication side effects and more to determine exactly what is causing your thyroid to go haywire.
When you follow our thyroid healing protocol:
- You’ll rediscover energy you had long forgotten you could have.
- Your hair and skin will feel rejuvenated and lush.
- You’ll wake up everyday feeling rested and energized thanks to a good night’s sleep.
- Celebrate newfound strength within your body and make the most out of life.
